Selected Projects
Jeremy Kingan
Jeremy practiced as an architect in New Zealand for many decades, with a particular focus on residential dwellings in Queenstown and Auckland.
His work ranged from modest homes to alpine clubhouses, boutique hotels, retail streetscapes and community buildings. Residential projects formed the core of his practice, with many houses carefully placed to frame views of mountains, lakes and hillsides.
A recurring theme was achieving high quality design cost effectively, by combining straightforward materials and innovative construction techniques.
Jeremy’s projects have been recognised by the New Zealand Institute of Architects, including Southern Architecture Awards for the Jack’s Point Clubhouse near Queenstown and for the Fleck House. Across these works he is known for simple, strong forms, a clear rhythm in elevations and an honest expression of materials.
Residential Focus
New houses and alterations, often on challenging sites, with long views and strong indoor–outdoor connections.
Beyond the House
Alpine clubhouses, hospitality projects, commercial streets and public facilities carried the same attention to proportion, light and landscape.
Making More from Less
Richness achieved through how materials are composed: corrugated steel, plywood, exposed structure and polished concrete arranged with rhythm and clarity rather than extravagance.
